Some our recent graduates share their counselling experiences

EY - Mark, Advisory“I started as a Graduate in Perth earlier this year. My counsellor understood how eager I was to get out on an engagement and saw that I was having trouble being selected for projects because of how little experience I had. He helped arrange for me to come out to his current engagement to shadow his team. I got to help with real client work, as well as contribute to a diverse project team. On my last scheduled day on the project and with the credential on my CV, I was staffed on my first engagement, national project for a key client account.”
Mark, Advisory, Perth

EY - Christina, Advisory“Starting in a graduate program is both challenging and exciting. EY recognises that potential and ambition needs to be honed and developed, and who better to do this than the people who have taken the path before us. From day one, my counsellor was genuinely interested in me as an individual and I was able to discuss the challenges of becoming a valuable asset to EY as well as my long term goals. EY's counselling model has the power to transform all participants which in turn helps us to create a better working world.”
Christina, Advisory, Melbourne

EY - Jonathan, Assurance“As a recent university graduate, EY offered me the first step in my professional career, an opportunity that was both exhilarating and nerve-wracking. Having recently joined EY after a merger, my counsellor understood how I felt, and knew the challenges involved with taking a massive career step. Despite being busy, he was always more than happy to make time for me, taking genuine interest in my development and how I was settling in. Receiving counsel from someone with experience and generosity of time has made all the difference, helping me feel very much at home at EY.”
Jonathan, Assurance, Melbourne

EY - Cassandra, Assurance“In my first six months at EY, I felt like a fish out of water. I was excited to be working at EY, however I was thrown into multiple engagements, and I started to feel a lot of stress in this new environment. Was I the right fit for EY? Once I shared this with my counsellor, he gave me the necessary tools to handle the busy season, showed me the ropes to thrive on future engagements, and was with me every step of the way.”
Cassandra, Assurance, Melbourne

We’ll involve you in our business – and in the wider community

At EY we have a strong commitment to involvement and teamwork. It’s important you feel part of our wider organisation and feel at first hand the powerful impact we’re able to have on businesses and communities.

This sense of involvement stretches a long way beyond the formal work you’ll add to your CV/resumé. It’s about the bonds that you form with your colleagues, the support you give to our corporate responsibility activities and the way you contribute to our ongoing discussions within the organisation.

Here’s some of the activities our EY people are involved with

EY - Awareness on issues affecting men's health

Movember. In 2014, 48 teams helped raise awareness on issues affecting men's health, highlighting risk areas and early prevention measures – as well as raising $163,000.

EY - Bake sales, auctions and dress down days

Across Australia we held bake sales, auctions and dress down days to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) in May. BCNA works to ensure that Australian’s affected by breast cancer receive the best support, information and treatment and care appropriate to their individual needs.

EY - Corporate Games

Corporate Games. Over 150 EY people played in a range of sports as part of The Australian Corporate Games. Our ladies 6's soccer team came first!

EY - Care Day

EY Care Day. Teams of EY people volunteered their time to support our community for EY Care Day. It was an opportunity for us to do some gardening and tidying up.

Building better

The role of business is changing. It is now widely accepted that business has to do more than make a profit. It also must drive social and environmental change.

As we work towards building a better working world you can use your personal interests and professional skills to make a difference.  EY has shown on-going commitment to sharing the responsibility of caring for the community.

Corporate responsibility

CareersYou’ve found the right place if you want to make a difference outside of your professional role. Through our peoples’ time and skills, we invest in the education of tomorrow’s workforce to ensure that the skills and characteristics required to enable businesses and societies to thrive are available.

You’ll have the opportunity to develop in new and different contexts. You might be improving your public speaking, sharpening your negotiating skills or collaborating with people from a variety of backgrounds. But at the same time, you’ll be helping the community and building career-enhancing skills.

EY Matched Giving Program

CareersDid you know that EY people regularly donate through the EY Matched Giving Program – and EY Australia and EY New Zealand will match their contribution dollar for dollar?

The EY Foundation Matched Giving Program allows our people to donate to a registered charity of their choice directly from their pre-tax pay and EY will match the contribution dollar for dollar. This means a monthly contribution of just $20 from pre-tax earnings will provide their favourite charity with $480 each year!

Oceania CBS Alumni Manager Troy Shiels shares with us why he chose to donate through the EY Matched Giving Program. His charity of choice provides direct care and support for the most vulnerable people living with HIV.

“I couldn’t help but respond once I began to learn how devastating HIV can be for some, and how infection rates are rising – especially among heterosexual populations. My matched donation now provides a years’ supply of antiretroviral medication for two people who can’t afford it. Knowing what the future holds for a person living with HIV and who cannot afford that medication, I am so pleased EY gives me the opportunity to double my impact.”
