Rewards
At Ernst & Young you'll work hard and we'll reward you for your commitment. Here are just some of the benefits you'll enjoy.
FLEXleave. You’ll have the opportunity to purchase up to six weeks extra leave in FY10.
Career break. You can apply for a three-month career break.
Working interstate, working overseas. We offer domestic and global mobility opportunities. That means you could find yourself working in other Ernst & Young offices within Australia – or in one of our offices overseas. You can apply for an overseas secondment once you’ve had a few years experience with us.
Discounts. Once you join us, you’re eligible for discounts on some Apple, Microsoft, Dell, Telstra, Allianz and Westpac products. Through American Express, you can take advantage of flight and accommodation discounts. Enjoy cheap car rental with Avis Rent-A-Car. Explore the world with discounted tours from Intrepid Travel or Big Red Holidays. You’ll also be eligible for a discount on private health insurance through HCF and GMHBA.
Paid parental leave. We offer three months paid parental leave if you have been with us for a year or more and you are the child's primary care giver.
Health and well-being. We support initiatives such as social and competitive sporting events, and offer employees complimentary flu shots, nutritious snacks and fruit in the office and the ability to pay for the cost of your membership to one of our in-house gyms (some of our offices have them) or an ‘approved’ gym near your office from your pre-tax salary.
Social Club. The Ernst & Young Social Club organises a range of activities, from sporting events to informal and formal social functions, including – in most offices – an annual ball.
Salary packaging. From your pre-tax salary, you can package an Ernst & Young compatible PDA/Blackberry for business use. You can also package airline club memberships, novated car leases, car parking, study expenses, ‘in-house’ or ‘approved’ gym memberships and childcare fees in some locations, as well as make extra contributions to your superannuation.
Study assistance. We’ll help you meet the cost of approved external studies, which may include providing you with financial assistance to cover all or part of your course fees and the cost of your study materials. We may also offer you study and exam leave.
Professional memberships. We’ll cover joining and annual membership fees for one professional body each year. This includes the Institute of Chartered Accountants or an equivalent body for qualified professionals.
Employee Assistance Program. You and members of your immediate family can access independent, confidential counselling, free of charge, from professionally qualified counsellors should you need advice on personal, family or work-related concerns.
Global Employee Referral Program. Recruiting the best people is critical to our success, and employees like you are often the best source of the best candidates. The Global Employee Referral Program provides you with a cash reward or shopping voucher if you successfully refer a candidate to the firm.
Flexibility
We appreciate that managing work and life today is not simple, so we offer a range of flexible work arrangements. We take into account an individual’s needs and personal commitments and aim to create the right balance between what works for our people, our clients and the communities in which we work.
You might want to reduce your hours to care for a child or a relative, or renovate your house. You might be studying part time – and need to start and finish work later than usual. You might prefer to work at home for some extra peace and quiet to meet a deadline. You might want to take a year off and travel.
Of course, with flexibility comes responsibility – responsibility to work hard and get the job done. But it’s nice to know you’re working for a firm that understands people have full and busy lives – and sometimes need options.
