  • Prepare corporate income tax returns for organisations in diverse and specialised industries
  • Identify tax savings and risk-reducing opportunities for clients to consider
  • Analyse the tax return and reporting impacts of corporate restructuring and planning strategies
  • Create processes that minimize a client's tax compliance risk, including anti-avoidance provisions
  • Prepare estimated tax liabilities to assist a client in meeting their tax payment obligations

What would my day be like in Tax Accounting and Risk Advisory?

Our Tax Accounting and Risk Advisory professionals help organisations meet demands for greater transparency and tax department effectiveness. They advise on accounting for income taxes, tax function performance and tax risk.

As a member of the team, you might:

  • Ensure a client's tax reporting is accurate for external financial reporting purposes
  • Prepare the tax provision for financial reporting purposes for non-audit clients
  • Play a role in reviewing and testing a client's tax reporting systems and suggesting improvements
  • Contribute to the design of effective tax risk management protocols
  • Prepare or review a client's tax accounting calculations and associated disclosures
  • Support clients in benchmarking and improving their tax functions

What would my day be like in Financial Services Office?

The Financial Services Tax team is primarily responsible for reviewing and preparing tax returns for banks, trust funds, insurance and superannuation companies and some individuals. Specialists within the team also provide advice to clients on specific tax issues. The Financial Services Office in Sydney and Melbourne are financial services experts from Tax as well as Assurance, Transacations and Advisory. You'll have the opportunity to build broad financial services industry knowledge, client experience and business acumen.

What would my day be like working in Research & Development?

Our Research & Development (R&D) professionals work with clients from a diverse range of industries such as mining, oil and gas, biotechnology, pharmaceutical and IT, range in size from local start up technology companies to multinational companies investing in billion dollar projects. Their role is to understand the clients' business and industry in which they operate and combine this information with their knowledge of tax law to identify eligible R&D projects. By identifying and quantifying projects eligible for the additional R&D tax deduction you'll add value to our clients by reducing their effective tax rate.

As part of this team, you might:

  • Attend client meetings with tax managers, CFO's, engineers or scientists
  • Visit clients operations to undertake a tour of a mine site or processing plant in far North Queensland or outback Western Australia
  • Learn about innovative technologies and prepare summary documents regarding the novel technology
  • Calculate the value of R&D benefit for our client
  • Research and interpret new government concessions, grants or tax legislation

What would my day be like in Private Client Services?

Our Private Client Services professionals help clients with their comprehensive domestic and cross-border tax and accounting services. They work with high net individuals and their related entities to help manage domestic and global challenges by developing customised strategies to meet their financial goals.

As part of the team, you might:

  • Meet with clients to help with income tax planning in Australia and across multiple jurisdictions
  • Prepare financial accounts and tax returns for clients and entities
  • Work with revenue authorities to negotiate, defend and justify a clients tax position
  • Assist clients with tax effective structures for business and investments to protect assets and estates
  • Advise clients how to develop and implement charitable strategies
