And the award goes to...

Ernst & Young lends support to Australian film and television’s night of nights

Friday 27 January 2012 —Ernst & Young today announced the signing of a three year sponsorship deal with the newly formed Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA).

The agreement will see Ernst & Young become a major sponsor of the annual Samsung AACTA Awards, as well as carry out the role of independent observer for all of the important voting procedures.

The Samsung AACTA Awards are a continuum of the Australian Film Institute Awards, with the inaugural Samsung AACTA Awards Ceremony taking place in Sydney on 31 January.

Ernst & Young Sydney Office Managing Partner Lynn Kraus attended the Academy’s star-studded launch in August last year and said the AACTA sponsorship was a fitting extension to Ernst & Young’s portfolio of arts sponsorship programs.

"Ernst & Young has a proud history of supporting the Arts in Australia and we recognise the important role arts programs play in our communities," Ms Kraus said.

"Australia is home to an extremely talented pool of film and television actors, writers and industry professionals. Through our sponsorship of the Samsung AACTA Awards, Ernst & Young are pleased to help celebrate their passion, commitment, dedication and creativity.

"The inaugural Samsung AACTA Awards Ceremony next week marks the first major event of our three-year journey with AACTA, which will present new, exciting opportunities for the Ernst & Young brand and our people.

"Our involvement demonstrates Ernst & Young’s long-term commitment to the Arts and to helping Australians achieve their potential," Ms Kraus said.

AACTA was officially launched by founding president, Australian actor and Academy Award winner Geoffrey Rush.

The Awards set out to take new ground for the industry, promoting our nation’s greatest achievements in film and television and bringing Australia’s screen awards in line with a prestigious international awards season that includes the BAFTAs, the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards.
