Ernst & Young Brisbane Cycle Day with Cadel Evans and Shane Kelly
Sunday, 27 November 2011 —Eighty business leaders, Ernst & Young people and their families will get on their bikes today and cycle from Southbank to Mount Cotton in the first Ernst & Young Brisbane Cycle Day.
Led by Tour De France 2011 winner Cadel Evans and Australian cycling champion Shane Kelly, the cyclists will follow a scenic route and be greeted at the finishing line by up to 300 family members and colleagues at the Sirromet Winery in Mount Cotton.
Ernst & Young Brisbane Managing Partner, Jenny Parker said there had been an overwhelming response to the Cycling Day and she was looking forward to an enjoyable day with Ernst & Young clients and their families.
Parker said the Cycling Day was part of the firm’s commitment to leadership and well-being, and reflected Ernst & Young’s team approach to client relationships.
“Cycling is a wonderful activity, not only for health and fitness reasons, but also for the social aspect of the sport,” Parker said.
“We are pleased to be able to provide some of our clients and people with this one-of-a-kind opportunity to ride with a Tour De France winner and receive cycling tips from a world champion,” Parker said.
Cyclists have been participating in weekly training sessions with Shane Kelly at the Ernst & Young Brisbane offices in the lead up to the ride.
A charity auction will also be held on the day with funds raised going to Childhood Cancer Support, one of Ernst & Young’s nominated charities, which provides support services for families of young people with cancer.
The Ernst & Young Brisbane Cycle Day is the second event in the series for 2011, following the success of the Melbourne event earlier in the month.
A third cycling event will be held Sydney next month and Ernst & Young will consider rotating the cycling days across its national offices next year.
Ernst & Young recently announced a continued relationship with Cadel Evans which will include a broader program of events for our people and our clients over the next three years.
