EY appoints new Economics, Policy and Regulation Leader

  • Share

Friday 8 March 2013 — EY has announced the appointment of Sydney partner Oliver Jones as head of its Economics, Policy and Regulation team in Australia and New Zealand.

The Economics, Policy and Regulation team combines technical expertise, direct public policy experience and commercial awareness to advise public and private sector clients across a wide range of industry sectors.

Oliver Jones joined EY in 2010 to lead the Sydney Economics, Policy and Regulation team. Prior to joining EY, he worked in both consultancy and public sector roles in Australia and overseas. His experience includes more than three years as a public servant in former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair’s Downing Street Policy Unit and leading the team which produced Sir Rod Eddington’s landmark 2006 review of UK transport policy.

In Australia he has led teams working on strategic policy development and economic analysis for many major projects, including the NSW Long Term Master Plan, the North West Rail Link and WestConnex, the Joint Study on aviation capacity for the Sydney region, and he played a major role in setting up Infrastructure Australia.

“The value of using data analytics and economic analysis to inform policy and investment decisions is now well understood across the public and private sectors, and will only continue to become more important in supporting sound decision-making processes.”

“We expect the demand for high quality, robust policy, regulatory and economic analysis to continue to grow, not only in infrastructure and transport, but also energy, water, healthcare, education and events.”
