Monday, 12 December 2011— Eighty business leaders and Ernst & Young people got on their bikes on Sunday to cycle from Manly to Palm Beach in the first Ernst & Young Sydney Cycle Day.

Led by Tour De France 2011 winner Cadel Evans and Australian cycling champion Shane Kelly, the cyclists followed a scenic coastal route and were greeted at the finishing line by over 270 family members and colleagues at the Dunes Kiosk in Palm Beach.

Ernst & Young Sydney Managing Partner, Lynn Kraus said the Sydney Cycling Day was an enjoyable day for Ernst & Young people, clients and their families.

“We had an overwhelming response to the Cycling Day, not only because it was such a great way to spend a Sunday, but also because of the unique thrill of riding with a Tour De France winner,” Kraus said.

“Cycling is a wonderful activity for health and fitness reasons, as well as for the social aspect of the sport, and we were pleased to be able to provide some of our clients and people with this one-of-a-kind opportunity to ride alongside a world champion.

“The Sydney Cycling Day reflects Ernst & Young’s team approach to client relationships and is part of the firm’s commitment to leadership and well-being,” Kraus said.

Cyclists had participated in training sessions with Shane Kelly in the lead up to Sunday’s ride.

A charity auction was also held on the day with all funds raised going to Ernst & Young’s local NSW focus charities.

The Ernst & Young Sydney Cycle Day is the third and final event in the series for 2011, following the success of the Melbourne and Brisbane Cycle Days which were held in November.

Ernst & Young recently announced a continued relationship with Cadel Evans which will include a broader program of events for our people and our clients over the next three years.

Ernst & Young will consider rotating the cycling days across its national offices next year.
