EY and Babcock to deliver RIZZO 17 support
Friday 3 February 2012 — EY has teamed with Babcock to win a contract to support the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) in delivering a blueprint to help rebuild navy engineering capability.
The work is part of RAN’s response to recommendations from the July 2011 Rizzo report Plan to Reform Support Ship Repair and Management Practices which looked at, among other things, the need for Navy Engineering to be rebuilt and reorganised to reduce fragmentation, increase authority and clarify accountability.
EY’s Federal Government and Public Sector leader, Mark Nixon said the team was pleased to have won a role in supporting this vital work.
“The EY and Babcock team brings together dedicated specialists across various disciplines, with EY leading the process and Babcock supplying the navy engineering horsepower,” Nixon said.
The project team will also draw heavily on RAN subject matter experts.
“The reform of Naval Engineering is a once in a generational opportunity for the RAN to maintain a sustainable capability,” Nixon said.
“Together with Babcock, EY is proud to be assisting the RAN in building their future.”
Deputy CEO Babcock Pty Ltd, Rear Admiral Bob Love (ex Royal Navy Chief Naval Engineer), said Babcock was delighted to be involved and contribute their wide-ranging maritime engineering expertise into this important project.
“This is a great opportunity to contribute to a very important piece of work. The output must have wide stakeholder acceptance and become a blueprint for navy engineering of today and the future,” Love said.
