Ernst & Young names Melbourne Managing Partner - Ernst & Young - Australia

Ernst & Young names Melbourne Managing Partner

Monday, 19 October 2009 — Ernst & Young Oceania Area Managing Partner & CEO Australia, Gerard Dalbosco announced that Annette Kimmitt has been appointed Melbourne Managing Partner.

Annette is the current Victorian Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA). In this role Annette provides strategic advice to the national ICAA board and leads the Institute’s relationship building with key stakeholders in business, government, academia and the not-for-profit sector.  Under Annette’s leadership, the Victorian ICAA recently launched a mental health initiative for members in conjunction with Beyond Blue. This initiative is now being rolled out nationally by the ICAA.

Annette is actively involved in promoting and guiding women in the broader business community. Annette is a regular speaker and panel member at the annual Group of 100 Women in Finance Forum.

Prior to joining Ernst & Young, Annette held senior roles with the International Accounting Standards Board. Annette worked extensively with major corporations in Australia, France, Germany, Japan, South Africa, Switzerland and the United Kingdom on practical issues arising from the implementation of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

"Annette has played a key role in recent years building our firm’s market position particularly in the area of assurance and transaction advisory services, and most recently as the leader of our Victorian Assurance practice. She is well placed to lead our broader Victorian practice,” Gerard Dalbosco said.

“The last twelve months has been challenging for most businesses but we are now beginning to see the signs of improved confidence and investment activity. Things that were on hold are now being put back onto the agenda and we’re starting to discuss with our clients deals and transactions that 12 months ago were put on ice,” said Annette Kimmitt.

“Our Melbourne office has a well rounded practice across Assurance, Tax, Transactions and Advisory services. I am looking forward to continuing to work with our team to help our clients through the challenges and the opportunities that lie ahead as the economy picks up, and businesses seek to grow and develop”.

“I am also keen to continue our efforts in the broader community through the Ernst & Young Foundation and through the efforts of our people who provide both pro bono services and volunteer their time”.
