EY appoints another female office managing partner to lead Sydney office

Monday 21 February 2011 - EY today announced Lynn Kraus would become the firm’s Office Managing Partner for Sydney, commencing later this month.

The appointment follows Sydney Leader Paul Flynn retiring from the firm this month to pursue an opportunity in the mining industry.

Lynn was most recently EY’s Oceania People leader. She was instrumental in putting in place market-leading policies such as extending paid parental leave from 12 to 14 weeks for people with more than one and less than five years’ service, and to 18 weeks for people with five or more years’ service, as well as a $2500 ‘return to work’ investment for parents to use on their development or domestic assistance.

Prior to this, she was a partner in the firm’s Financial Services Office serving institutional and investment banking clients as well as listed companies dealing in structured financial arrangements. Lynn has many years of experience in accounting in Australia and the United States, including two years with Wachovia Corporation in the US and with Westpac in Australia.

“Given Sydney is being positioned as the financial services hub of Asia Pacific, Lynn's extensive experience in this sector, combined with her energy and whole-of-firm approach means she is a great fit for this role,” EY’s Deputy CEO, Uschi Schreiber, said.

Lynn will be one of four female Office Managing Partners (Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane and Melbourne) of the six partners that make up the regional office leadership team, and will also be a member of the Oceania Executive team.

Commenting on Lynn’s appointment, Ms Schreiber said: “We are thrilled to have someone of Lynn’s calibre leading the Sydney team at a time when we are driving growth in this important market. Lynn’s appointment is also evidence of the strong talent pipeline we are building for our female employees,” Ms Schreiber said.

Ms Schreiber thanked Paul Flynn for the significant contribution he had made to the firm during his career as an Assurance partner, serving clients in the mining, energy and utilities sectors, across  Australia, North and South America, and Asia.
