Corporate responsibility - our people make it happen
At Ernst & Young, we focus our corporate responsibility efforts on building strong and thriving communities. Reading our 2011 report, I'm proud to see just how deeply we've entrenched this mandate in the way we conduct business.
Our people strive to make a positive impact by offering their professional skills and capabilities — by serving on non-profit boards, working with schools, mentoring students, assisting high-impact entrepreneurs, finding innovative ways to reduce our environmental footprint and simply offering a helping hand.
In our quest to strengthen the communities in which we live and work, we focus our efforts on three key issues — our "three Es" — education, entrepreneurship and environment. We believe these pillars lay the foundation for a better future for all.
In our knowledge-based global economy, we can help by expanding access to education in communities close to home and around the world. Through educational programs and outreach efforts, we're helping youth overcome barriers so they can achieve their full potential.
The marketplace has come to know our organization as a champion of entrepreneurs, and this runs through our corporate responsibility initiatives as well. We sponsor and produce innovative programs to help some of the most dynamic individuals and organizations grow into industry leaders.
When it comes to the environment, we respect and protect our natural surroundings in big ways and small, through carbon-reduction initiatives within our own workplaces and outreach programs in the broader community.
I invite you to explore our corporate responsibility report to learn more about our hard work around our three Es, the programs, organizations and initiatives we support, and the difference our people are making by sharing their skills and resources throughout the year.
I'd like to thank those who support Ernst & Young's vision of a sustainable future, including our people, partners, clients and friends everywhere. Thank you for sharing in our belief that the foundation of any healthy business — and every healthy economy — is a thriving community. By putting this belief into action, we can make communities better, people stronger and the future brighter — for us and for generations to come.
