Canadians called to celebrate entrepreneurs who inspire, motivate and energize: Ernst & Young
Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2011 Awards launch today (Toronto – 1 March, 2011) Canada’s entrepreneurs are emerging stronger than ever from the global recession and are positioning themselves to take hold of new growth opportunities. Their resilience is worth celebrating as Ernst & Young today launches the Entrepreneur Of The Year 2011 Awards in Canada.
Ernst & Young is calling on Canadians to nominate exceptional entrepreneurs who are leading the way and building Canada’s future. The deadline for applications is April 30.
“People are really beginning to acknowledge the important part entrepreneurs play in our economy and our communities,” says Colleen McMorrow, National Director of Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year. “The federal government has named 2011 the year of the entrepreneur, and the most important thing we can do for the country right now is to create an environment that helps entrepreneurs succeed on a global scale.”
For 18 years, Ernst & Young has recognized high-achieving entrepreneurs in Canada and around the world who drive growth, build communities and transform industries. These entrepreneurs represent large and small, public and private, established and emerging companies. They are leaders in both business and their communities.
“Entrepreneurs are the ones willing to put their capital at risk in order to create jobs and to push our economy forward,” says McMorrow. “At Ernst & Young, we’re proud to honour today’s leaders who continue to foster innovation, attract the best and brightest talent, and set new standards for social responsibility."
The call for nominations begins today. Self-nominations are encouraged as well, and there is no fee to nominate. An Entrepreneur Of The Year nominee must be an owner, CEO or CEO-equivalent of a private or public company with primary responsibility for its recent performance and an active member of top management. The company must be at least three years old.
Award winners are chosen based on their vision, leadership, financial success and social responsibility.
This year’s national program sponsors are the National Post, La Presse and RDI.
