In January 2012, Mark was selected as EY's next Chairman and CEO. His title will be Chairman and CEO-elect until Jim Turley retires in June 2013.
As Global Vice Chair – Tax, Mark leads our global Tax practice, which consists of more than 29,000 people worldwide.Mark is responsible for all aspects of our tax strategy and delivery. New tax legislative, regulatory, and technical developments are announced nearly every day, and tax authorities around the globe are sharing information and cooperating on enforcement efforts in unprecedented ways.
With a focus on understanding clients’ needs and a commitment to quality service, Mark leads our effort to help clients achieve their goals in this challenging global tax environment.
Mark served as Americas Vice Chair of Tax. He maintains an active advisory role with numerous global clients and interfaces with global regulators and tax administrators. Throughout his career, Mark has spent considerable time in government service, most recently as Assistant Secretary of the United States Treasury (Tax Policy). Prior to that, Mark was appointed by the President of the United States to serve on the Social Security Advisory Board.
He is recognized as a leading authority on tax policy and speaks regularly at major client events and accounting and tax association conferences. Mark sits on the Boards of Directors for The Tax Council and The American Council for Capital Formation in Washington, DC.
Mark holds a BA from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, an MBA and JD from Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio, and an LL.M from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC.
Mark enjoys spending free time with his wife and four children, as well as skiing, tennis and other activities.
