Changes in Ernst & Young Switzerland’s Management Committee
Stefan Amstad, Willy Hofstetter and Louis Siegrist to become new members of the Management Committee. Thomas Huwyler, Markus Schweizer and Martin Studer to take on other management roles in the global organization. ZURICH, 30 MARCH 2009 - The integration of Ernst & Young as a global organization is making rapid headway. For this reason the Board of Directors is aligning the Management Committee of Ernst & Young Switzerland to the integrated organization. As of 1 April 2009, Stefan Amstad as Head of Audit for Financial Services, Willy Hofstetter as Head of Quality & Risk Management and Compliance and Louis Siegrist as Head of Human Resources will become members of the Management Committee.
Three members of the Swiss Management Committee are switching to the global organization: Thomas Huwyler, People Partner for Audit Services in the GSA region comprising Germany, Switzerland and Austria; Markus Schweizer, Head of Accounts & Business Development in the GSA region; Martin Studer, Head of Business Risk Services in the EMEIA region comprising Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa.

As of 1 April 2009, Dr. Thomas Sauber will become Head of Zurich Office, Robert-Jan Bumbacher Head of Basel Office and Prof. Bernhard Zwahlen Head of Berne Office. These three partners will succeed Marco Tagmann, Manuel Aeby and Jürg Scheller. “I am pleased that these experienced partners are taking over management of these offices and would like to thank the current partners, who have made an important contribution in their long careers at Ernst & Young,” says Bruno Chiomento, CEO of Ernst & Young Switzerland.
Stefan Amstad has been a partner since 2005. The 39-year-old economist and certified auditor is a FINMA-accredited lead auditor for banks and member of the working group on accounting. Within the international Ernst & Young organization, he is a member of the leadership team for auditing for the Financial Services industry in the EMEIA region, which comprises Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa. Stefan Amstad lives near Zurich.
Willy Hofstetter has been a partner since 2002. The 42-year-old certified auditor is a member of the Auditing and Accounting Practices Committee of the Swiss Institute of Certified Accountants and Tax Consultants. He has extensive experience managing publically listed and international auditing mandates. Willy Hofstetter lives with his family near Zurich.
Louis Siegrist has been a partner since 1999 and was made Head of Transaction Advisory Services in 2008. The 48-year old economist and certified auditor has spent many years managing national and international valuation and due diligence mandates and is a lecturer for courses on company valuations. Louis Siegrist lives with his family in St. Gallen.
Dr. Thomas Sauber has been a partner since 1999 and was made General Counsel in 2003. The 53-year-old lawyer and legal specialist has long-standing experience working with mandates for Transaction Advisory Services and corporate, commercial and competition law. Thomas Sauber lives near Zurich.
Robert-Jan Bumbacher has been a partner since 1998. The 45-year-old economist and certified auditor has a wealth of experience managing auditing and advisory mandates for Swiss and international companies. He is a lecturer on auditing at the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland. Robert-Jan Bumbacher lives with his family near Basel.
Prof. Bernhard Zwahlen has been a partner since 1995. The 56-year-old legal specialist has many years of experience in tax law. He is a member of both the Institutional Board of the Institute for Swiss and international tax law (ISIS) and the Swiss Institute of Certified Accountants and Tax Consultants as an accredited tax expert. Within the international Ernst & Young organization, he is a Head of Personal Tax Services in the GSA region, which comprises Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. Bernhard Zwahlen lives with his family near Berne.
