2012 - Achieving growth through innovation

China today is making a tremendous efforts to change its mode of economic growth by exploring ways to add value, promote sustainable development, and facilitate a global economic recovery.

Chinese entrepreneurs are on the frontier of economic transformation, using their experience and collaborating with one another to meet the many challenges of the global economic slowdown. With both social benefits and economic efficiency as their goals, they are providing innovative solutions to many critical problems while creating new business opportunities for their enterprises.

The theme of this year’s Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year China — “Driving growth for collaborative success” — accurately summarizes the characteristics of these entrepreneurs and, particularly, the winners of our awards program.

“Driving growth” means finding possibilities for innovation through challenges and developing original products and services in the evolution from “made in China ”to“ designed by China ”and“ this is a Chinese brand”. “Collaborative success” is all about performing one’s social responsibilities, which includes taking into consideration the interests of relevant stakeholders in the course of doing business and encouraging global corporate citizenship among Chinese enterprises.

When judging this year’s nominees, we came to know many outstanding entrepreneurs from both the Mainland and Hong Kong. Their entrepreneurial spirit, world-class ideas, guiding principles and teamwork contribute to the exceptional achievements they have made — not only in their own businesses, but also in their respective industry sectors and society at large.

Through the global platform provided by our awards program, we hope to publicize the stories of these leading enterprises so that others may learn from them. We extend our sincere appreciation to all those who have been involved in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year awards program over the years. We also take this opportunity to congratulate the winners and wish them even greater success in the future.
