Globally, business and tax landscapes continue to change as a result of shifting economies and the accelerating pace of globalization. Faced with a slowly recovering global economy and record deficits, governments are increasingly focused on raising revenues through taxation. As a result, governments are responding with the introduction of budget proposals that balance the need to raise revenues and increase their overall levels of competitiveness. Please join us for a timely update of recent budget proposals and significant legislative, tax treaty and case law developments in the following jurisdictions:
- United States
- Hong Kong
- India
- Singapore
In addition, the National People's Congress (NPC) of mainland China has recently released the 12th Five-Year Plan (for 2011-2115), which identifies the China's economic development initiatives for the period covered. This session will present an overview of this important release, and in particular, the tax aspect and incentives for innovation, energy, and reform.
Enforcement and transfer pricing
More and more jurisdictions are ramping up their enforcement efforts and are focusing on related-party transfer pricing policies. As part of this session, we will present the findings of our recently released 2010 Global Transfer Pricing Survey, "Addresses the challenges of globalization". This Survey summarizes the transfer pricing practices, perceptions and audit experiences of a wide range of global corporate tax practitioners, and provides valuable insights and lessons that will be relevant to your business.
This session is designed to:
- Provide an overview of budgetary and recent tax developments in the United States, Hong Kong, India and Singapore and discuss how these various budget proposals may impact current and future tax efficiencies in multinational organizations
- Provide an overview of the recently agreed development initiatives in China and discuss how such initiatives may impact multinational organizations operating in China (whether from an inbound or outbound perspective)
- Provide an overview of and related insights on trends in transfer pricing policies and perceptions
