Young Tax Professional of the Year 2015
EY’s Young Tax Professional of the Year is an international competition designed to identify young talents with an interest in tax, help them enhance their professional skills and develop their careers. The competition gives participants the opportunity to share experiences with people from a range of backgrounds and cultures.
Students from all over the world are urged to enter the competition thereby ensuring the participation of students from a variety of countries. There will be a local competition and a national competition followed by an international competition. The competition will test the tax technical, reasoning, presentation and communication competencies of the participants.

The local competition is open to all students studying undergraduate or postgraduate courses.
Application period: from now to 15 February 2015 (Sunday)
Semi-final: 28 February 2015 (Saturday)
Preparatory course (optional): 7 March 2015 (Saturday)
Final: 19 March 2015 (Thursday)
The local competition consists of a semi-final and a final.
There will be 90-minute quiz comprising multiple choice questions and a short essay question. Selected candidates will be invited to the semi-final which will be held on 28 February 2015.
Top-scoring candidates will be invited to the final round of the local competition which will be held on 19 March 2015. Finalists of the local competition will also be invited to an optional preparatory course to learn more about international tax concepts before the final round.
Finalists will be given a case study intended to test their reasoning and expressive ability. They will be invited to participate in a group debate. Shortlisted finalists will then be invited to do an individual presentation to a panel of judges.

The application period is from now to 15 February 2015.
To register, participants must submit an online application. In addition, participants are required to state briefly their objective(s) for participating in the competition and why they are interested in a career in tax.
Time and venue
Successful applicants will receive an invitation by email specifying the time and venue of the event. The local competition will take place at our EY office or training center in Hong Kong.
HK$8,000 cash and a 6-week paid internship or conditional offer of employment with Tax Department of EY in Hong Kong. The awardee will represent Hong Kong to attend the national competition in Shanghai (flights and accommodation included).
HK$6,000 cash and a 6-week paid internship or conditional offer of employment with Tax Department of EY in Hong Kong. The awardee will also represent Hong Kong to attend the national competition in Shanghai (flights and accommodation included).
HK$4,000 cash and a 6-week paid internship or conditional offer of employment with Tax Department of EY in Hong Kong. The awardee will be the stand-by representative for Hong Kong at the national competition.
Representatives from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan will compete at the national competition which will take place in Shanghai on 28 March 2015. They will have the opportunity to meet with leading figures in the profession and start an influential network.
Finalists will be given a case study involving international tax concepts and they will be invited to do an individual presentation to a panel of judges.
The winner of the national competition will represent Greater China at the international competition.
HK$20,000 cash and a 4-week paid internship or conditional offer of employment with Tax Department of EY in the Greater China. The winner will represent Greater China to attend the international competition which will take place in Europe (flights and accommodation included).
HK$10,000 cash and a 4-week paid internship or conditional offer of employment with Tax Department of EY in the Greater China. The awardee will be the stand-by representative for Greater China at the international competition.
HK$5,000 cash and a 4-week paid internship or conditional offer of employment with Tax Department of EY in the Greater China.
The international competition will take place in Europe in late 2015.
During the international competition, finalists will work closely with people from across the world with different cultures and backgrounds. They will be challenged with case studies and interviews before a panel of judges who will select three finalists for the Young Tax Professional of the Year award.
The finalists will be invited to a prestigious award ceremony where an overall winner will be announced.
A 30-day round-the-world business trip built around 10-day working visits to key EY Area Tax Centers in London, Washington D.C. and Hong Kong. The trip will enable you to build a network of global tax contacts which you can draw upon throughout your career.
A 10-day visit to one of EY’s Tax Centers. The visit will give you a detailed insight into the operation of a center of tax excellence and the opportunity to interact and build contacts with key members of the Center.
