Insurance Agenda 2013

Welcome to the latest edition of
Insurance Agenda

In this edition, we examine the transformation and modernisation of policy systems in our publication: Focus on policy systems: a tool for success. Policy administration systems are an important tool for helping insurers to improve profitability and achieve growth in a market where we are seeing regulatory reform and increased customer demand. We take a look at how insurers can realise the most value from their policy administration systems and, in our view, the necessary steps to get there.

Also in this edition is our analysis of the latest IFRS4 Exposure Draft. On 20 June 2013, the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) issued a revised exposure draft Insurance Contracts (the revised ED) as part of its ongoing insurance contracts project. This is a major milestone in the IASB’s efforts to eliminate the current diversity that exists in insurance contract accounting. The revised ED takes into account the re-deliberations by the IASB since its July 2010 exposure draft Insurance Contracts (2010 ED).

I hope that you find the materials included in this edition of Insurance Agenda to be insightful and thought provoking. Please feel free to request a copy of any of these publications and, as always, we welcome your feedback.
