The awards will be presented this evening at a gala event to 12 outstanding business leaders who have inspired others with their vision, leadership and achievement.
The winners are drawn from a wide range of industries, comprising consumer products, industrial products, real estate, automotive, services and technology. Two winners are represented in the Emerging class, which recognizes achievements of up and coming business leaders.
"On behalf of everyone at Ernst & Young, I would like to congratulate all the winners on their achievements in business. The global economic crisis has highlighted the important role entrepreneurs play in igniting growth. Not only do they drive innovation and change in an economy, they also bring positive social benefits such as helping create jobs, improving livelihoods and supporting communities," says Albert Ng, Ernst & Young's China Chairman and Managing Partner for Greater China.
“This year, many of the winners have global ambitions, which are significant in light of how far the Chinese economy has developed and become more globally integrated in the sixty years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Undoubtedly, China has a historic role to play in the globalized economy, and we are confident that today’s winners will be integral to China’s success tomorrow,” Ng adds.
“Even when times are tough, often it is entrepreneurs who are the first to start a new business, shift towards a fresh direction or expand into new markets. That is why entrepreneurial achievements are worth celebrating, because entrepreneurs help drive economic success, regardless of whether business conditions are good or bad. The winners represent a diverse range of industries, a sign that China’s economy is at a stage of maturity where it can inspire young and innovative enterprises,” says Sam Wong, Co-Chairman of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2009 China program.
“Economic reforms have unleashed the transformative power of the entrepreneurial spirit by empowering ambitious individuals to steer their new ideas, products and services to new frontiers. I offer my congratulations to the winners, who I hope will be role models for future generations of entrepreneurs.,” says Philip Leung, Co-Chairman of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2009 China program.
The winners were chosen from a diverse pool of quality nominations by an independent judging panel.
