EY recognized as one of Greater China’s Best Companies to Work For in 2012 by Great Place to Work® Institute

Shanghai, March 21 2013 - EY has been awarded in Great Place to Work® Institute’s polling of 2012 Best Companies to Work For® in Greater China. It is the first time that the Great Place to Work® Institute, a global research, consulting and training firm, has published its best companies list in Greater China region.

Early this year, Fortune magazine, for the 15th consecutive year, selected EY as one of the 100 Best Companies to Work for in 2012. EY has held this honor, thanks to its long-standing philosophy of “ Whenever you join, however long you stay, the exceptional EY experience lasts a lifetime. ” We’d elaborate as follows:

Smooth two-way communication channels – On a global level, EY listens to the opinions and ideas of its people, regardless of their ranks, on corporate development strategy, leadership, quality of service and corporate social responsibility. In all its regions across Greater China, EY regularly holds People Advisory Forum (PAF) meetings. Through the regular PAF meetings, selected representatives from all ranks and all service lines share their views from business perspectives and identify potential solutions. Comments are collected and consolidated from across Greater China to form EY’s people strategy and action plan and ultimately to improve its employee engagement. EY also builds a bridge of communication between employees: In China, it has established Our EY Stories, a platform where our people can share their EY moments; as well as the Cross Generation Network (CGN) and Working Parents’ Network (WPN), platforms for employees at different ages and employees with children to exchange their experiences and ideas. The official EY Weibo, launched in March 2012, has closed the gap between our organization and its people and the general public by reporting the latest EY news; recently EY Weibo won the 2012  Social Recruitment Awards China.

Effective Incentive Mechanism – EY has set up many awards to inspire employees, such as the Chairman’s Values Award (CVA) to acknowledge outstanding employees across the world every year; the ExCEED Award to encourage high-performing individuals or teams in Greater China every quarter; and ThankU Certificates for employees to express their appreciation to others to promote team work and cooperative spirit.

Employee-friendly flexible work arrangement – Given that each employee has his or her own life plan and family and social responsibilities, EY provides flexible work arrangements for them to make appropriate adjustments within a certain period of time.

Corporate culture that supports women in workplace – In EY’s diversity and inclusiveness Meet Our Women Leaders communication campaign in 2012 in Greater China, the stories of several successful female leaders in our organization were shared with employees to promote female role models and share experiences. Meanwhile, our Professional Women’s Network (PWN) helps to build a broader social network for female professionals and promote their career development.

Efficient Internship Program – EY’s internship program starts with a three-day classroom training event, through which interns get necessary accounting and auditing knowledge, as well as soft skills, such as telephone skills, business etiquette and interviewing skills. In 2012, 720 interns received the training in Greater China and the program receives consistently positive feedback from participants. We are keen to include more and more interns each year.
