4 December 2012, Beijing
With the support of China Overseas Investment Network, Ernst & Young participated in the 4th China Overseas Investment Fair (COIFAIR) held at the China World Trade Center in Beijing on 3-4 December 2012. Ernst & Young co-sponsored one of the forums titled “The Risk Management for Outbound Investments”, which was organized by TransAsia Lawyers on 4 December.
The COIFAIR, which takes “Invest and Cooperate for a Better World” as the theme, is an authorized fair approved by the National Development and Reform Commission of the People’s Republic of China, supported by relevant domestic and overseas institutions, and co-hosted by China Industrial Overseas Development & Planning Association and the China Development Bank.
As one of the co-sponsors of the forum, Ernst & Young had Sunny Chow, Greater China Risk Leader presented the topic “Build a Strategy-Oriented Risk Management System for Overseas Investments”.
Sunny first gave an overview of the trends of Chinese enterprises’ overseas investments since 2008, and then elaborated further on the five commonly-asked questions, namely “Why to invest?”, “Why to make overseas investments but not local ones?”, “How to invest?”, “What is the expected results and return?”, “What challenges and risks will we meet in investments?” His speech triggered a lot of interest and was well received by the audiences, helping them understand the strategic approach of assessing the risk of investment overseas.
About 200 participants attended the forum. Ernst & Young deeply impressed the participants with our global perspective, professional consultant attitude and great corporation image. Chow, who shared his valuable experience and constructive advices with investors, successfully reinforced the COIFAIR’s theme “Invest and Cooperate for a Better World”.
