About us - Morocco
Morocco is located in North Africa, with a population of nearly 32 million and an area just under 447,000 square km. Its capital is Rabat, and its largest city is Casablanca. Morocco has a coast on the Atlantic Ocean that reaches past the Strait of Gibraltar into the Mediterranean Sea. It is bordered by Algeria to the east, Spain to the north and Mauritania to the south via its Western Saharan territories.
The official language is classical Arabic. The country's distinctive Arabic dialect is called Moroccan Arabic. French is the unofficial second language and serves as Morocco’s primary language of commerce and economics. It is widely used in education and government along with Spanish. English is far behind French and Spanish is rapidly becoming the second foreign language of choice among educated youth (after French). The local/standard time is GMT.
Morocco's economy is considered as a relatively liberal economy. The economic system of the country presents several facets. It is characterized by a large opening towards the outside world. France remains the primary trade partner of Morocco. France is also the primary creditor and foreign investor in Morocco.
