Ernst & Young launches 2nd Executive Management Development Program (EMDP) for Omani Government Executives

Muscat, 14 February 2012: Following Ernst & Young’s successful inaugural Executive Management Development Program (EMDP) for senior Omani government executives in 2011, the organization announced its second edition of the program for 2012.

The program will be inaugurated at a special ceremony, held under the patronage of HE Salim bin Musallam Ali AlBusaidi, Undersecretary, Ministry of Civil Services, Management Development Affairs, who will distribute certificates to the 2011 participants and welcome the new 2012 participants.

This year’s EMDP will leverage Ernst & Young’s global knowledge, insight and experience to train and develop senior Omani government executives. Senior executives, nominated by several ministries and companies owned by the Omani government will attend at least 10 training modules throughout the year.

The program will address key issues that include recent trends in technology, latest developments in the oil and gas sector, climate change, the Euro crisis and its impact, performance appraisal system, risk management, corporate social responsibility, family businesses, renewable energy and rapid growth markets – with a focus on Africa. In addition to trainers from Ernst & Young, the participants will be exposed to a variety of experts from leading financial and educational institutions that will equip them with the tools needed today’s fast-paced business environment.

Ernst & Young’s Executive Management Development Program is a year-long training program designed to develop future leaders in the Omani government. It was first launched in 2011 to celebrate Oman’s 40th Year of Renaissance Celebrations and the reign of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

Ernst & Young established its office in Muscat in 1974 and it has since grown to be the largest professional services firm in Oman employing about 200 people providing assurance, tax, advisory and transaction advisory services.
