Ernst & Young Appoints Two New Partners in Oman
Muscat, 17 November 2011: Ernst & Young announced the appointment of two new Partners at the Muscat office. Ahmed Amor Al Esry is now Partner, Tax Advisory Services and Sanjay Kawatra has been appointed as an Assurance Partner. Ahmed and Sanjay have been with the organization’s Oman practice for 12 and 13 years respectively.
Ahmed is the first ever Omani national to be promoted to Partner at Ernst & Young Muscat. In addition to his responsibilities of leading the tax practice, Ahmed will also continue to hold the role of Oil & Gas Sector Leader at Ernst & Young Muscat. Ahmed has acquired significant experience in both the audit and tax. He has led audit teams and tax advisory assignments for a number of companies in different sectors, with a focus on oil and gas entities in Oman.
Ahmed leads the Graduate Development Program at Ernst & Young for Omani nationals and is also involved in organizing and presenting several oil and gas accounting seminars to the local business community. Prior to joining Ernst & Young, Ahmed worked for Petroleum Development Oman LLC (PDO). Besides a Bachelors degree in Commerce, Ahmed is a Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA, UK), a Chartered Management Accountant (CMA, UK) and a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA, USA).
Sanjay leads Ernst & Young’s Assurance practice at the Muscat office. He brings substantial experience to his new role and his portfolio includes a wide range of industries with specific focus on the Banking and Financial Services sector. Sanjay is the IFRS leader at the Muscat office, and regularly conducts annual public seminars relating to IFRS. He has also presented exclusive banking related courses to some of Oman’s largest banks and runs several Ernst & Young events such as the CFO Forum.
Sanjay represents the organization on the technical committees formed by the regulators in Oman. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

Ernst & Young Muscat employs over 60 Omani nationals, who are sponsored by the organization, to periodically attend local and international training programs which helps further their development. Nationals are also supported through the Graduate Development Program, an intensive two to three year program that aims to accelerate their career development by providing them with a broad set of skills and experiences. It consists of a structured learning program, balanced work experience opportunities, on-the-job coaching and feedback and support.
