Social media to fuel growth
Social media revolution requires mixing it up
Social technologies have revolutionized the way companies interact with consumers, providing customers with a voice and businesses with valuable data and new ways to “attract and keep fans of the brand,” according to Mikael Hed, creator of the wildly successful mobile game Angry Birds. The constantly changing mix of available tools means companies have to keep pace and think about how to appropriately leverage different platforms to achieve their goals. The gains for some organizations will be bigger than others.
“Facebook and Pinterest are great for engaging people in conversation. They’re good for our brand, but they don’t have the same power to generate dollars as Twitter – hashtags drive interest in our products,” said Greg Roebuck of carsales.com Limited.
Research by Reputation.com shows that 90% of social media users are passive: not contributing, not buying. “Defining ROI is tough,” Hed added, “but a presence is vital to retaining interest.
“Social media is the exposed flank for people and organizations,” said Michael Fertik of Reputation.com. “We’re seeing increased demand from companies who want to use our services to understand what their customers, and their employees, are saying about them online.”
This session will combine the experience of technology organizations that have been central to developing social media tools with organizations that have embraced social media as a key and active part of their growth strategy. Learn why social media is fast becoming the tool of choice for entrepreneurial companies, and explore both its challenges and opportunities.
