The rise and rise of the frontier economies
With low debt, young populations, substantial productivity and promising market performance, frontier economies like Malaysia, Mexico and the East Africa region are taking the world by storm.
That’s the message shared by Dambisa Moyo, one of the world’s most respected economists, speaking at World Entrepreneur Of The Year.
Moyo encouraged entrepreneurs to look beyond their own borders. Although Africa has tremendous investment potential, external support is required to spur economic growth and reduce poverty — but she argued that celebrities and the billions of dollars pouring in from NGOs don’t support long-term, sustainable change.
She added that it’s time to stop talking about disease, poverty, corruption and war and start telling a much more positive story about Africa — women playing significant roles in government, stock market openings and credit ratings.
