Citizen Today: women in leadership
Our latest edition is devoted to the role of women leaders in parliamentary systems and at the head of government departments.
Do we have enough diversity at leadership levels in our parliaments and at the decision-making tables of our government departments today?
We recently developed an Index that looks at the representation of women in leadership roles in the G20 countries. Our lead article clearly shows that most countries do not come near this kind of representation of women, despite many years of legislation and supporting policy.
Meet chief ministers and ministers, heads of government departments, the founder of a new political party and even a former police commissioner — all of them women who have defied the odds and who are passionate about their roles as policy-makers and change agents.
Their stories capture the challenges faced and lessons learned by women leaders in government around the world. They also demonstrate that a more diverse future is being built today.
