Women's Emerging Issues Policy Forum (WEIPF)/Emerging Issues Policy Forum (EIPF)
12-15 October 2013
Sarasota, FL

EY Power and Utilities is sponsoring the Women's Emerging Issues Policy Forum (WEIPF) and the Emerging Issues Policy Forum (EIPF) on 12-15 October 2013 in Sarasota, FL.

The EIPF’s mission is to create meaningful dialogue between legislators, elected officials, industry executives, consumer groups and federal and state regulators in the energy, communications and information technology industries.

On Saturday 12 October, Susan Bell, EY’s Atlanta Office Managing Partner will moderate two panel discussions:

  • Understanding the Modern grid- Smart Grid 2.0: Challenges and opportunities: How do we architect the modern grid to serve the customer and the utility of the future?  This session takes a look at multiple business models, technologies, cyber security considerations, regulatory and legislative perspectives.
  • Aging infrastructure: Infrastructure investments are needed to replace aging facilities, meet environmental mandates and ensure reliability. This session will address innovative regulatory and market approaches for investing in necessary infrastructure.

At dinner, EY will lead an interactive workshop, “Raising capital for women entrepreneurs.” During this activity, WEIPF delegates will work together to make loans to female entrepreneurs through Kiva, the world’s first and largest person-to-person microfinance website. Kiva is one of EY’s key community partners, which helps small-scale entrepreneurs benefit society.
