IASB Chairman outlines agenda in Ernst & Young’s inaugural magazine on corporate reporting
London, 16 November 2011 – Ernst & Young has today launched a new magazine, Reporting, that includes thought-provoking views on issues affecting corporate reporting and governance. The magazine contains a mixture of business, regulatory, and investor views that will be of interest to financial reporting professionals, audit committee members, and C-suite executives, as well as wider financial stakeholders. In this first edition, Hans Hoogervorst, Chairman of the IASB, talks about his agenda for the organization including: completing the convergence projects with FASB; developing a post-convergence program; helping remaining major economies commit to IFRSs; and continuing to build confidence in the standard-setting process.
Christian Mouillon, Ernst & Young Assurance Vice-Chair, said: “People tasked with corporate reporting and its oversight are facing a period of intense change as investors and regulators have increasing expectations about disclosure and transparency. We are delighted Hans Hoogervorst has taken the time to contribute to our inaugural magazine. The last year has seen many changes to accounting standards amid a worsening economic outlook. The next twelve months will be critical for companies to carefully consider the impact of these changes on their financial statements, as well as other regulatory proposals being considered for corporate reporting. Reporting magazine brings together a range of insights and ideas that will interest and inform all business executives involved in their organization’s performance story.”
The cover feature examines the impact Wikileaks could have on corporate reporting and information security. As well as the views of Hans Hoogervost, R.Sankaraiah, CFO of fast-growing Indian pharmaceutical company Jubilant Life Sciences, outlines the challenges of addressing global investment markets as a growing business expanding from India; and Julie Meyer, CEO of Ariadne Capital, talks about her experience of communicating with stakeholders. Other articles provide an overview of Islamic finance, the future of annual reports, and sustainability reporting.
