What’s the Issue?
Today's economic pressures present a significant challenge for power generation utilities and their supply chain functions.
Public utility commissions routinely call for utilities to minimize rate increases while maintaining high levels of plant safety and operational reliability.
Utilities, in turn, are asking their supply chains to:
- Reduce inventory levels and their associated costs
- Avoid expediting costs
- Eliminate losses incurred because parts become obsolete while sitting unused in warehouses
And supply chain is being asked to do this while providing timely delivery of parts to maintain high equipment reliability.
