Into the unknown: climate change post DurbanConclusion

There is still no legally binding treaty to curb emissions.

The Durban deal is a small victory.

The negotiation process is still alive, and all states have now signed up to the idea of reaching a deal by 2015. However, there is still no legally binding treaty to curb emissions, and it is unlikely that they will reach a meaningful global deal by 2015.

That does not mean that you should take no action on climate change, but it does mean that most of the pressure for change will come from the national level.

And it also means that for the long-term, you should look at adaptation to dangerous climate change rather than simply trying to reduce carbon emissions.
