Seizing Opportunities: a once in a lifetime chance

How are the world’s best entrepreneurs responding to the economic downturn?  What actions are they taking to get their companies through the financial crisis and position themselves for success and growth when the recovery begins?  To find out we asked alumni from the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year program; more than 450 answered.

One thing really stood out:  entrepreneurs see this as a time of opportunity.  This is in stark contrast to the attitude of c-suite level executives in major multinational firms, as discovered when Ernst & Young surveyed 450+ of them for Opportunities in Adversity (link), released at the same time as Seizing Opportunities.  The differing outlooks are summarized below:

The world’s entrepreneurs are far more focused on growth and finding the opportunities in the downturn than their multinational corporate counterparts.

How strategic growth-oriented companies intend to find and exploit the opportunities inherent in any downturn is the subject of Seizing Opportunities.  The survey results and advice from the entrepreneurs provide a useful benchmarking tool for companies to measure and compare their own responses to the downturn, and a fascinating insight into what actions proactive companies are taking to remain on course during the current economic times.
