Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year

Dr. Jean-Paul Clozel of Switzerland was named as the Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur Of The Year 2008 at the climax of a glittering ceremony in Monte Carlo on 31 May.

Jean-Paul Clozel is the founder of Actelion, a leader in the development of small-molecule drugs for the treatment of pulmonary disease, and its products have improved the lives of patients worldwide. “His vision and passion have enabled him to become one of the biotechnology industry’s most recognized global success stories,” said Greg Ericksen, Ernst & Young’s Global Vice Chair for Strategic Growth Markets.

Each year the national Entrepreneur Of The Year country winners from around the world are invited to the World Entrepreneur Of The Year Award celebration. The next World Entrepreneur Of The Year event will take place 28-31 May 2009 in Monte Carlo, Monaco.

Ernst & Young presents its annual Entrepreneur Of The YearŽ (EOY) award to the most successful and innovative entrepreneurial business leaders around the globe in more than 135 cities in more than 50 countries worldwide. All winners become lifetime members of The Entrepreneur Of The Year Hall of Fame, which is part of the Entrepreneur Of The Year Academy.

“In the spotlight”: Social Entrepreneurship

The Social Entrepreneur Of The Year award, presented in collaboration with the Schwab Foundation and the World Economic Forum (WEF), celebrates innovative ideas and practices that use market forces to create economic and social change. Social Entrepreneur Of The Year award ceremonies currently take place in the Czech Republic, Turkey, South Africa and Indonesia.

Global Entrepreneurship Week

We have joined forces with founding sponsor Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation and other sponsors NYSE Euronext and IBM to deliver Global Entrepreneurship Week in November 2008, the first-ever worldwide series of entrepreneurship events.

New countries joining EOY
