Captive Insurance

A captive insurance company insures all or part of the risks of its owners, the owners being individual companies or groups.

Captives may insure the risks of a whole industry or a group of companies with similar goals and objectives - this group includes industry captives and mutual captives which will be owned by several different companies.

Under legislation introduced in 1995, captives may also redomicile in the Isle of Man from other jurisdictions.

Following a detailed review of developments in Protected Cell Company legislation by the IPA, appropriate legislation to enable the formation of such companies will be introduced as soon as possible.

Protected Cell Companies

The Isle of Man's Insurance & Pensions Authority is proposing the introduction of Protected Cell Companies
