Our commitment to the arts

Arts sponsorship, with all its educational and cultural benefits, gives us an opportunity to contribute to the cultural life of the country. Over the last 13 years we have sponsored some of the most successful exhibitions ever held in the UK.

Past sponsorships. Some of the highly successful exhibitions we've sponsored include:

  • Renoir Landscapes 1865 – 1883 , at the National Gallery, from 21 February 2007 to 20 May 2007.
  • Rodin , at the Royal Academy of Arts, from 23 September 2006 to 1 January 2007.
  • Turner Whistler Monet, at the Tate Britain, from 10 February to 15 May 2005.
  • Art of the Garden, at the Tate Britain, Linbury Galleries, from 3 June – 30 August 2004 .
  • Turner's Britain, at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery (BM&AG), from 7 November 2003 to 8 February 2004.
  • Art Deco 1910-1939 at the V&A Museum, London, from March to July 2003. Glamorous, exotic and vibrant, Art Deco is widely considered the most popular style of the twentieth century and this landmark exhibition at the V&A was the most comprehensive celebration of the style ever staged.
  • Matisse Picasso at the Tate Modern in 2002. This highly popular exhibition explored their relationship, which was revealed as much closer and more complex than has been thought.
  • Vermeer & The Delft School at the National Gallery in 2001. This exhibition was the largest display of Vermeer paintings, and the most comprehensive exhibition of art from Delft ever seen in the UK.
  • Monet in the 20th Century at the Royal Academy of Arts in 1999
  • Picasso: Sculptor/Painter at the Tate Britain in 1994
  • Cezanne at the Tate Britain in 1996
  • Bonnard at the Tate Britain in Spring 1998
  • Burne-Jones at the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery in 1998/99.

We continued our long-term involvement with the Tate with sponsorship of the temporary Visitor Centre at Bankside Power Station before the opening of the new Tate Gallery of Modern Art in May 2000. In addition, our support helped to make possible the opening of Lambeth Palace to the public for the first time, together with an arts-based project bringing together local school children, the Tate's education department and Lambeth Palace.

We won the prestigious Association for Business Sponsorship of the Arts (ABSA) award for the Best First Sponsorship and Best Single Project for Picasso and Cezanne respectively.

Business sponsorship of the arts allows works to be shown to a wider audience than would otherwise have the chance to see them. Many of the paintings in the exhibitions we have sponsored have never been shown together. Over the years, our clients and staff, along with the general public, have gained a lot of enjoyment from exhibitions we have supported.
