Global Urbanisation Presents Opportunities Of The Future For Irish Entrepreneurs 

IRISH entrepreneurs are being challenged to find new business opportunities in rapidly increasing urbanisation – which will see 70 percent of the global population living in cities by the middle of this century. Embracing that urbanised world of the future will be the focus of the 2010 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards – whose finalists will visit Shanghai, one of the largest cities on the planet, with a population of some 20 million.

Taxback.com founder named 2009 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 
Kilkenny businessman Terry Clune, founder of Taxback.com, received Ireland’s coveted business award when he was named at a ceremony last night as the 2009 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year®.  Clune was first announced as winner of the industry category before receiving the overall title which was presented by The President of Ireland, Mary McAleese.

Entrepreneurs representing companies with a combined turnover of €1.25 billion shortlisted for top business award 
Entrepreneurs representing companies with a combined turnover of €1.25billion and employing more than 14,000 staff are set to compete for the title of the 2009 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year®. The shortlist of 24 announced today was selected from a competitive pool of over 110 business and individual entries received from across the island of Ireland.
