Executive Chairman - Murugappa Group

A Vellayan is the Executive Chairman of the Murugappa Corporate Board. He is the Chairman of EID Parry (India) Limited and Coromandel International Ltd. He is also on the board of Indian Overseas Bank and Kanoria Chemicals Ltd. He holds a diploma in Industrial Administration from the University of Aston, UK and a master's degree in Business Studies from the University of Warwick Business School, UK

RC Bhargava - Jury Chairman

Chairman - Maruti Suzuki India Ltd

RC Bhargava is the Chairman of the board of Maruti Suzuki India Limited since 2007. He is also the President and CEO of RCB Consulting Pvt. Ltd, a firm engaged in management and human resource consultancy. He joined Maruti Suzuki India Limited, almost immediately after its incorporation, as Director of Marketing in the year 1981. He had been involved in establishing the project from the very start. He later served as the Managing Director of Maruti Suzuki India Limited (formerly, Maruti Udyog Ltd.) from 1985-1990 and Chairman & Managing Director from 1990-92. In 1992, when Suzuki acquired 50% equity in Maruti, he continued as the Managing Director as Suzuki's nominee.

He is also on the Board of many reputed companies viz. Dabur India Limited, IL&FS Limited, Grasim Industries Limited, Ultra Tech Cement Company Limited, Lord Krishna Bank Limited and Polaris Software Lab Limited, Taj Asia Limited, Global Education Management Systems Private Limited. He has held several senior positions with the Government of India (Joint Secretary, Ministry of Energy and Joint Secretary in Cabinet Secretariat) and Public Sector Undertakings (Director- Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited) during 1974-1981.

Bhargava joined the Indian Administrative Service (I.A.S.) in 1956 and stood 1st in the batch and was allotted to the U.P. cadre. He holds a Master of Sciences degree in Mathematics from Allahabad University, India and a Master of Arts in Developmental Economics from Williams College, Williams town, MA, USA.

Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer - Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd.

Prasad leads the core team which drives growth and performance at Dr. Reddy’s. He is the architect of the company’s successful Global Generics and API strategies, and has spearheaded Dr. Reddy’s foray into Biosimilars and Differentiated Formulations. His efforts have led the company to a leadership position in the Indian pharmaceutical sector and helped create a significant presence globally, while being recognized for scientific innovation, people practices, and corporate governance.

Prasad serves on the boards of the Indian School of Business, Institute of Life Sciences, Infotech Enterprises, and Acumen Fund. Causes which are closest to his heart include sustainable development and higher education. The premium Prasad places on sustainability thinking has helped Dr. Reddy’s embrace green technologies and processes, and thereby reduce the company’s ecological footprint.

A Chemical Engineer from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Prasad additionally holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Administration from Purdue University, US.

Chairman and Managing Director - Marico Ltd.

Harsh Mariwala founded Marico in 1990 and transformed a traditional commodity driven business into a leading Consumer Products & Services Company, in the Beauty and Wellness space. Today, Marico touches the lives of 1 out of every 4 Indians, with its portfolio of trusted brands such as Parachute, Saffola, Nihar, Kaya, Mediker, Revive, among others. During 2010-11, Marico recorded a turnover of Rs. 31.3 billion (about USD 695 Million) through its products and services sold in India and 25 other countries in Asia and Africa.

Under Harsh Mariwala's leadership, Marico was awarded the NDTV Profit ‘Best Business Leadership’ Award in the FMCG (Personal Hygiene) category, in 2007 and 2009, and was rated as one of India's Most Innovative companies by the Business Today - Monitor Group Innovation Study (2008). Harsh Mariwala was conferred with the EY ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ Award (2009) in the Manufacturing category, ‘Talent Management Award’ at the CNBC India Business Leader Award (2009), the ‘Teacher’s Achievement Award in Business’ (2006) and the ‘CEO with HR Orientation’ - Global Excellence HR Award (2007) by the Asia Pacific HRM Congress.

Harsh Mariwala’s entrepreneurial drive and passion for Innovation, enthused him to establish the Marico Innovation Foundation in 2003. Under the stewardship of an eminent Board, the Foundation acts as a catalyst to fuel innovation in India. In addition, Harsh Mariwala also mentors a group of young and upcoming entrepreneurs, in association with TiE – The Indus Entrepreneurs - a part of TiE’s Mentor Programme.

In March 2011, Harsh Mariwala was elected as the President of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). He is also on the Board of Cadbury India Limited. In the past, he has held several positions as the FMCG Committee Chairman of FICCI and CII. Harsh Mariwala is also a part of the Young President Organization (YPO) and World Presidents Organization (WPO) and has held the position of YPO Education, Membership and Chapter Chair.

 

Ishaat Hussain

Ishaat Hussain

Finance Director - Tata Sons Ltd.

Ishaat Hussain took over as finance director of Tata Sons Ltd. in July 2000. Earlier, he joined the board of Tata Sons Ltd. as executive director in July 1999. He is also a director of several Tata companies, including Tata Industries, Tata Steel and Voltas. Besides, he is the chairman of Voltas and Tata Sky.

Hussain is a member of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) committees on insider trading and primary capital markets. He is also a member of the Confederation of Indian Industries finance committee.

Prior to joining Tata Sons Ltd., Hussain was senior vice president and executive director of finance at Tata Steel for almost 10 years. He joined the board of the Indian Tube Company (a Tata Steel associate company) in 1981 and moved to Tata Steel in 1983, after Indian Tube was merged with Tata Steel.

Hussain graduated in economics from St Stephens College, New Delhi. He is a chartered accountant of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (FCA).

Smt. Shikha Sharma was Managing Director and CEO of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Limited.

Smt. Shikha Sharma has done her B.A. (Hons.) in Economics, and completed her Masters of Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad in 1980. She has a Post Graduate Diploma in Software Technology, from the National Centre for Software Technology, Mumbai.

Smt. Shikha Sharma has a career of 29 years with a wide exposure across the entire spectrum of financial services and has held several leadership positions across various market leading businesses. She started her career in 1980 at ICICI Ltd. in project finance. Later, she headed the Securities Trading and Research business and also worked at JP Morgan Singapore on derivatives servicing South East Asia.

She set up the Structured Finance business and pioneered ICICI's retail entry into Personal Financial Services between 1997–2000. In 2000 she became the Managing Director & founder CEO of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company. Her ability to build high performing teams enabled the company to consistently retain its No 1 position in the highly competitive insurance landscape.

Smt. Sharma is respected as a business builder and for her understanding of the India financial services sector.

 

Rajiv B. Lall

Rajiv B Lall

Vice Chairman and Managing Director - IDFC

Dr. Rajiv B Lall is the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of IDFC. He has over two decades of experience with leading global investment banks, multilateral agencies and in academia. His areas of expertise include project finance, private equity/ venture capital, international capital markets, trade, infrastructure and macroeconomic policy issues with a focus on emerging markets including India and China in particular.

Dr. Lall straddles the policy making and finance worlds. He chairs the Infrastructure Council of CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) a leading business chamber in the country, and was President of Bmbay Chamber of Commerce and Industry.  Dr. Lall is India's representative to the G20 Workgroup on Infrastructure and a member of the City of London's Advisory Council on India. He is also member of the Planning Commission's Steering Committee on Urban Development Management set up to help formulate the country's 12th Five Year Plan; the Prime Minister’s Committees on Infrastructure Finance and Transport Sector Development;  Expert Group on Modernization of Indian Railways of Ministry of Railways Government of India, and the Reserve Bnk of India’s Committee on NBCs.  Dr. Lall has served on several other Government Committees including those focused on Urban Infrastructure, Bnd Market Development and Financial Sector Reform.

Prior to joining IDFC, Dr. Lall was variously, a Partner with Warburg Pincus in New York; Head of Asian Economic Research with Morgan Stanley in Hong Kong; a senior staff member of the World Bnk in Washington, D.C. and of the Asian Development Bnk in Manila respectively; and faculty member of the Florida Atlantic University Department of Economics.

Dr. Lall has a number of publications and articles to his credit. He has a B in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Oxford University and a Ph.D. in Economics from Columbia University.

Vice Chairman - Tata Consultancy Services

S Ramadorai is Vice-Chairman of Tata Consultancy Services, a company he has been associated with for the past 39 years.

In February 2011, Mr Ramadorai stepped into public service when the Indian government appointed him as the advisor to the Prime Minister in the National Skill Development Council, in the rank of cabinet minister.

Mr Ramadorai is chairman of Tata Elxsi, Tata Technologies, CMC and CRL, and on the boards of Tata Industries, Hindustan Unilever, Bombay Stock Exchange and MIT Sloan School of Management. 

In recognition of his commitment and dedication to the IT industry, Mr Ramadorai was awarded the Padma Bhushan (India's third highest civilian honour) in January 2006. In April 2009, he was awarded the Commander of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II for his contribution to Indo-British economic relations. 

Mr Ramadorai’s academic credentials include a bachelor’s degree in physics from Delhi University, a bachelor’s degree in engineering (electronics and telecommunications) from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and a master’s degree in computer science from the University of California. In 1993, he attended the Sloan School of Management’s highly acclaimed senior executive development programme.

Sanjay Nayar

Chief Executive Officer -KKR India Advisors

Sanjay Nayar joined KKR in 2009 and is CEO of KKR India. Prior to joining KKR, he served as CEO of Citigroup’s Indian and South Asian operations and as a member of Citigroup’s Management Committee and Asia Executive Operating Committee. Mr. Nayar was the Deputy Chairman of the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA), Chairman of the Foreign Banks’ Committee of the IBA, a member of the Board of USIBC, Co-Chairman of the Banking Committee for the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), and Co-Chairman of the Habitat for Humanity India Builds campaign. He has also participated in various financial sector reform committees set up by the Indian government and domestic regulators and currently serves on the Committee of the Reserve Bank of India tasked with building a Centre for Advanced Financial Learning (CAFL). He is also on the board of non-government organizations including Habitat for Humanity, Pratham and Grameen Capital.
