PVR to quit film-making and focus on multiplex and bowling alley business

Film exhibitor and multiplex chain PVR has decided to exit the film-making industry, and Shanghai, currently under production, will be its last movie as producer. Its film production business, under its subsidiary PVR Pictures, reported a loss of INR202 million in the last fiscal. PVR is likely to merge the production division of its wholly owned subsidiary, PVR Pictures, with itself. After the merger, PVR Pictures will become a pure film distribution company, which will also focus on film exhibition and bowling alleys. PVR plans to add around 80 screens and 100 lanes of bowling alleys across the country over the next 18 months12.

Cinemax launches hi-end gaming zone in Delhi

Multiplex chain Cinemax has launched its gaming business Versus in Delhi. This is a hi-end gaming zone, which is a blend of amusement and edutainment, with an array of activities catering across demographics. It has a bowling alley, an education-centered program and a special area for birthday celebrations and corporate parties. Hi-end graphic games, third person shooting games, pool tables and dynamic air hockey, among other activities, are also offered by Versus13.
