Climate Change and Sustainability Services

The 1997 Kyoto Protocol to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) resolved to reduce emission levels of green house gases (GHGs). Flexible mechanisms in the Kyoto Protocol, such as the ‘Clean Development Mechanism’ (CDM), allow industrialized countries (the ‘Annex-B countries’ of the Protocol) with emission reduction commitments to procure Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) from eco-friendly, development-oriented projects and activities, which reduce GHG emissions, also known as ‘CDM projects’.

The Indian Government has formed the Designated National Authority (DNA), to endorse CDM projects, which meet the sustainability criteria set by the Indian Government. The Executive Board (EB) of UNFCCC has also accredited several agencies to function as Designated Operational Entity (DOE) for project validation and verification.

Our Services:

We help organizations with their CDM projects through our range of services across the CDM project cycle, which covers:

  • Identification of projects
  • CDM documentations, Project Concept Notes (PCN) and Project Design Documentation (PDD)
  • Facilitation of ‘Host Country Endorsement’ by DNA
  • Facilitation of ‘validation’ by DOE
  • Facilitation of carbon credit sale agreement with Buyer
  • Facilitation of ‘certification’ of carbon credits by DOE over the entire crediting period

Our Credentials:

  • We have the largest market share in CDM project facilitation in India. We are working on projects in the area of renewable energy, energy efficiency (various sectors), waste heat to power, fuel switch, etc.
  • Many projects facilitated by us have been endorsed by DNA
  • Significant number of ‘new methodologies’ for CDM projects have been developed and submitted to ‘Methpanel’ of UNFCCC. Validations of several projects are under way.
