Welcome to the Forum

Farokh Balsara We are delighted to welcome you to the second Strategic Growth Forum (SGF) India, 2012.

The next three days will see more than 400 participants gather from India and across the globe, including 78 international and Indian speakers. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to each of you for your much-valued attendance..

SGF India 2012 focuses on the theme of Grow Beyond. Our sessions will provide practical insights on how to compete for growth in today’s global economy. We will discuss how to take advantage of new opportunities and learn important lessons from change. Watch out for the panels on China, Africa, Latin America and breakout economies such as Libya and Indonesia. Other discussions will focus on subjects such as overseas listing; M&A as a growth strategy; creating game-changing business models; how cloud computing is opening up opportunities; the potential of digital commerce; and much more.

Inspirational leaders such as Harsh Mariwala from Marico and D. Shivakumar from Nokia will deliver keynote addresses on the successes and travails of building iconic businesses. Rajshree Birla of the Aditya Birla Group needs no introduction. She will tell us about the role business should play in society — an essential facet of any exceptional enterprise today. SGF India 2012 also features Viswanathan Anand, the reigning world chess champion; Rasmus Ankersen, the internationally acclaimed high-performance coach; and bestselling author Amish Tripathy. Get ready to absorb their unique insights, which relate directly to the world of business.

Shri Prithviraj Chavan, Honorable Chief Minister of Maharashtra joins us on Friday to discuss the critical role that government and policymakers can play in helping businesses to drive growth.

I urge you to make the most of the tremendous networking opportunities that this gathering of business leaders presents. We are providing private meeting rooms for your use. And this year, we are introducing SpotMe, a handheld virtual assistant, which will transform your networking experience, manage your agenda during SGF India 2012, book your meeting rooms, help you access relevant Ernst & Young-specific knowledge and much more.

Our team has pulled out all the stops to make this a distinctive and valuable experience. I hope you enjoy your time with us. I look forward to meeting you all and getting to know you better.

Sincerely,

Farokh Balsara,
Markets Leader – India
