ASTANA/ALMATY, June 6th, 2012 – An awards ceremony was held today in the Modern Art Center “Kulanshi” for the young artists of Kazakhstan. Their talent was assessed by the EY’s guests at the 20 year anniversary gala dinner that was held on May 21st in Astana. There were about 250 guests, including participants of the V Economic Forum in Astana, senior Kazakhstani politicians, Cabinet members, heads of major companies in Kazakhstan, as well as members of the Foreign Investors’ Council which is chaired by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Keith Gaebel, EY Managing Partner for Central Asia and the Caucasus, awarded certificates to all the participants and presented the five winners with KZT150,000 each in exchange for their winning piece of art./p>

“The young artists of Kazakhstan reflect our independence. Their art is free, the same as the sky above our country; as fearless as the wind of the steppe. In future, we are confident that the works of these artists will represent Kazakhstan in the world’s best exhibition halls. It is great that EY supports the creativity of Kazakhstani youth,” said Leila Makhat, Director the Modern Art Center “Kulanshi”.

The winning pieces of art were “Young Artists”, “Self-portrait” by Assel Amangeldinova, “Assel” by Saule Zhandullayeva, “Sensuality” by Tegzhanova Aigul, “Swirling clouds” by Zhanibek Saulet.

The artists all viewed their participation in the exhibition as the successful beginning of their respective art careers.

Saulet Zhanibek:
“Participation in this contest was an interesting experience for me and a good reason to show myself without limiting anything. The contest gave the participants the freedom of actions.”

Aigul Tegzhanova:
“I would like to express my gratitude to the organizers of the exhibition for the opportunity to present our works. It is especially pleasant that my work found its audience! These, so to say, “victories” motivate the creation of “my world”, executed with positive feelings and sensuality.”

Saule Zhandullayeva:
“The participation in such exhibitions is a priceless experience and I received a lot of encouragement. Now I have motivation to work even harder.”

Assel Amangeldinova:
“It was great to participate in the exhibition, and also to win!”
