General information about Luxembourg:

Sixth-smallest country of the world and also the only Grand Duchy, Luxembourg can, nevertheless, be considered as the economic center of Europe. Thanks to the highest concentration of banks of Europe (more than 150 banks established on 2586 km2), but also holding companies and investment funds and many industries, Luxembourg became one of the most prominent financial center in the world. Luxembourg is known for being the biggest center for private banking of the Eurozone and is second in the field of investment funds.
Beyond its economical aspects, Luxembourg is also a country with a high quality of life.
Luxembourg offers a truly cosmopolitan environment, out of a population of 511.800 inhabitants (as at 31/12/2010), 43, 2% are foreign born.
In addition, approximately 151.000 cross-border commuters from France, Belgium and Germany daily commute to Luxembourg. Thanks to this international aspect, Luxembourg has three official national languages: Luxembourgish the mother tongue, German and French. However at Ernst & Young, 42 nationalities are represented.
Its capital: Luxembourg city, one of the safest cities in Europe, offers many cultural aspects: many events and exhibitions often take place. The several museums (Musée d’Art de la ville de Luxembourg, Musée National d’Histoire Naturelle, etc.) and music festivals (Blue’n’Jazzrallye, festival Meyouzik, Music festival Rock Um Knuedler, etc.), concert halls, theatres and a full range of sports (Golf courses, cycling for example) are many possibilities to entertain during time-off.
Luxembourg is also very famous for its art of fine dinery with more Michelin-starred Restaurants per head of inhabitant than any other country in the world. Wining is also something very characteristic of the Luxembourgish’s culture, with the Moselle valley’s vineyards.
40 % of the territory is composed of green landscapes. Old town, medieval houses and modern art are living together to make Luxembourg as its population: a cosmopolitan place.
