Investment Funds in Luxembourg. Luxembourg has become one of the leading centres for investment funds - particularly as a domicile and an administration centre. The first fund was established in 1959.

Most Luxembourg investment funds are distributed cross-border, both inside and outside the European Union (EU). Funds with European Passport (UCITS funds) may be marketed freely in other EU countries after complying with a minimum of formalities. These funds account for nearly 80% of the assets of Luxembourg funds.
Other funds are generally reserved for institutional or informed investors. They may only be marketed in other countries if they comply with the specific conditions stipulated by local authorities. In this category, the number of alternative investment funds, including hedge funds and real estate funds, has grown strongly in recent years.
