New purpose

In July EY unveiled its new logo, its new global brand name, EY, and Building a better working world as its new purpose, which is now becoming central to its brand. As part of its strategy named Vision 2020, this new EY purpose has a clear ambition across a range of measures to adapt now to our changing world.

Volatility in the business world is one of the reasons for developing Vision 2020. The world continues to be shaped by significant structural shift in economic power and demographics. It’s also becoming increasingly globalized, interconnected and complex.

Alain Kinsch, Country Managing Partner of EY Luxembourg, explains: « The fact is that these trends are growing rather than declining, and against this global backdrop, only those businesses that take steps to become more nimble and responsive to evolving market conditions and needs will grow and thrive. Our 2020 Vision is of an economic environment which builds on talent and fosters collaboration. For this very reason we have the ambition to build, with our people, a fairer and more balanced working world for our clients, our stakeholders and our society.”

New joiners: EY Luxembourg recruits over 150 new professionals

As EY has adopted and articulated a further reaching and explicit purpose with its Vision 2020, which is to play a critical role in helping to build a better working world, it is committed to attracting the best people and nurturing high-performance teams to better serve our clients and become more relevant in the eyes of its various stakeholders.

In this context, EY is pleased to announce today the recruitment of over 150 new professionals at it premises in Munsbach on 15 September 2013, bringing the number of employees of EY Luxembourg to around 1,100 professionals, representing of 47 nationalities.

“I am very proud that over 150 young and promising professionals chose to join EY, demonstrating the strength and attractiveness of our brand and firm. The leadership and partners of EY are committed to offer the best learning and career perspective to these 150 new EY professionals: our aim is to create a distinctive high performance culture at EY by developing future leaders, creating inclusive, borderless teams and living our values every day. Indeed, EY is built on an attractive model of promotion, involving regular advancement and the very real hope of reaching partner after a number of years of service at the Firm. Today, we remain committed to upholding this promise of meritocracy, which enables us to organize as a partnership. It contributes to upward mobility in a way that no other current model can, definitively benefiting our people, our clients and all our stakeholders. In this context, also considering our regulatory framework, we are committed to pay particular attention in providing our professionals with outstanding training, in the interest of our clients. Being part of the most globally integrated organization in our profession, in mindset, actions and structure makes it easier and quicker to achieve these goals and helps delivers enormous benefits to our clients, our people and our operations”, says Alain Kinsch

“Our new strategy also aims at further increasing our investment in training and development of our people in several ways. Our approach to development involves the learning, experiences and coaching all our professionals need to enrich their careers and deliver the best results for our clients. That’s why we put in place an integrated global model for delivering learning to our people, to drive consistency and quality while leveraging the most innovative technology. Our concept of ‘distinguished performing teams’ puts us indeed on par with the world’s leading global businesses. It is   important to us on a broader level to offer a stimulating work environment which is conducive to professional and personal development and gives those who join us an experience that lasts a lifetime”, says Olivier Lemaire, People Partner at EY Luxembourg.

EY has just been ranked the world’s most attractive professional services employer – and second most attractive employer overall – in Universum’s annual World’s Most Attractive Employer ranking.

"This ranking demonstrates how important this is for us to have a leading people culture everywhere in the world. To enable this, we intend to invest in mobility incrementally over the next five years. There will now be stronger alignment between market needs and mobility opportunities. Offering a truly unique mobility perspective to our people is in fact a real advantage for our clients, and the markets and local economies in which we work. Today, about fifty professionals are assigned to international missions, while 17 people work abroad or on long-term secondments to other offices”, adds Olivier Lemaire.

“We are very proud to maintain such a level of recruitment and diversity of our people, who must understand the needs, preferences and culture of our clients and must serve them out of Luxembourg, including the emerging countries, as we believe that the future growth for Luxembourg products and services is increasingly coming from those economies, “ concludes Alain Kinsch.

New building

EY Luxembourg is please to announce today that foundation stone for the new EY building at Boulevard Kennedy in Luxembourg-Kirchberg has been laid last Friday September 20 and that the Firm plans to move to Kirchberg in early 2016.

“The recruitment of 150 new professionals this year, and similarly high numbers in previous years is a demonstration of our confidence in the continued growth opportunities of our Luxembourg economy. Over the past four years, we grew from less than 750 people to now around 1.100 professionals, an increase of almost 50%. This success also meant that we had to reflect on what is the best solution in terms of premises to offer a high quality working environment to our people and great facilities to our clients. Creating a work environment conducive to the development and fulfillment of our professionals is an ongoing challenge for EY’s management team”, says Alain Kinsch.

EY Luxembourg worked with Sauerbruch Hutton International as lead architect, Architecture & Environnement from Luxembourg and Lux Consult as project manager, to design and deliver a building that will be not only have a unique design but also be at the cutting-edge of today’s environmental standards.

“We very much liked the design of Professor Sauerbruch – a building with angles and perspectives, lively and positive colors, open to our people and clients. The building will have the best High Environmental Quality (HEQ) standards even reached by a building of that size in Luxembourg, not so far away from the ‘passive house’ standards. This represents a major investment that we are happy to make because our commitment to environmental protection is not exclusive to our new building initiative. It is part of a global approach in our Firm. The concept of sustainability and healthy environment will be a leitmotiv for the entire building for the full benefit of the EY professionals” explains Alain Kinsch.
