EY Luxembourg helps the victims of the Haiyan typhoon in Philippines
As part of its building a better working world mission - officially unveiled to the public last July as it announced its new visual identity - EY is committed to integrating corporate responsibility not only in its business strategy but also in its values and its day-to-day operations. With the objective to look beyond its self-interest, the EY firm in Luxembourg has a clear ambition to continue to engage with the world and create positive change around us.
Last month the Haiyan typhoon, which has been the world’s largest natural disaster this year, seriously affected the Philippines. EY Luxembourg is thus proud to support once again the SOS Children’s Villages Association in Luxembourg, of which the EY firm has been the partner for more than 10 years now, while actively involving all its professionals and its management team in a real aid action to the Filipino people.
One SOS Children’s Village in Philippines particularly affected
The SOS Children’s Village of Tacloban, a coastal town located in the center of the affected region where the impact of the disaster had been concentrated, had extensive damage. However, like the SOS Children’s Village of Calbayog, the SOS Children’s Village of Taboclan has welcomed many victims who could found temporary shelter.
Alain Kinsch, Managing Partner of EY Luxembourg and Vice-President of the SOS Childen’s Villages Association comments: « It seemed obvious that we had to join forces to come to the aid of the most disadvantaged people, who had experienced natural disaster not of their choice. As we’re committed to support SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde, which provides food assistance and I get ready for my day sets and is committed to providing assistance to children and their families in the long term, we have the ambition to contributing to assist all the people of that community in returning to a normal life.
Corporate responsibility at EY: a real firm commitment
A fundraising initiative to all the EY employees has been organized over the last three weeks. EY Luxembourg doubled the amount of collected donations, which reached €15,000 on total for the benefit of the victims of the Haiyan typhoon in Philippines.
“We are very proud of the strong commitment of all our people to the Typhoon Haiyan Appeal initiative of Children’s Villages. This generous donation reflects how far our people aspire to actively commit themselves to the world around us and to act for the greater good of all. I’m deeply convinced that real engagement with the world around us goes far beyond our business community”, said Alain Kinsch.
EY Luxembourg does not intend to stop its actions at this stage. On the contrary the EY firm aspires to get its professionals and their own families involved in its corporate responsibility activities even more over the next following years. This is particularly why EY Luxembourg decided to organize a toy collection among its EY employees during its traditional St. Nicolas Party this year again. This celebration is an opportunity to take part in an act of solidarity, while putting a smile on the faces of disadvantaged children. On 12 December EY Luxembourg will sponsor the yearly SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde Christmas Concert that also represents an important event for the Association
