Conference on European and Malta Attractiveness Surveys 2010
The Prime Minister of Malta was the distinguished participant at the presentation of the Ernst & Young Malta Attractiveness Survey 2010 (pdf, 5.7mb). The survey brings together the views of top executives of 90 foreign-owned companies operating in Malta and which employ around 14,000 people. It deals with perceptions which may not equate to reality. However, perceptions are a key factor in decision-making.
The most attractive investment criteria are the level of English of human resources (90% of respondents), human resources productivity (86%) and the Euro as the national currency (86%). Three-quarters of respondents are considering expanding their activities in Malta.
The Conference, which also presented the European Attractiveness Survey, had a distinguished discussion panel composed of the following: James Stewart - CEO SR Technics; Alan Camilleri - Executive Chairman, Malta Enterprise and Malta Industrial Parks; Maurice Grech - Principal and CEO, Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST); Helga Ellul - President, Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry; Luan Cuffe - entrepreneur and Hotel Phoenicia shareholder; Stephen Pandolfino - Deputy Head of Global Banking and Markets, HSBC Malta.
Mario P Galea, country managing partner, who opended the conference said: "Winning foreign investment does not just happen. It is a daily game with active players.I trust that the Survey proves useful in contributing to Malta's increased efforts and energy to wing the game". The conference was attended by around 110 people from foreign-owned companies, Maltese enterprises and police makers.
