EY Entrepreneur Of The Year finalists announced
Thursday 24 July, 2014 - Sixteen of New Zealand’s top entrepreneurs have reached the finals of this country’s most prestigious business awards, the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year.
EY New Zealand Entrepreneur Of The Year awards director, Jon Hooper, says each of the 2014 finalists has demonstrated outstanding innovation, determination and entrepreneurial spirit.
“Like all successful entrepreneurs, they have the extraordinary passion, self-belief and drive that keeps them going when others might give up,” he says.
“Because of this, they make a significant contribution to New Zealand’s economy and to the community by creating jobs, driving productivity, fuelling growth and inspiring others.”
The 2014 finalists are:

- Justine Muollo (Justine’s – formerly The Protein Bakery)
- Pic Picot (Pic’s Really Good Peanut Butter)
- Luke Pierson (Heyday)
- Michelle Pratt (New Shoots Children’s Centre)
- Daniel Radcliffe (International Volunteer HQ)
- Mark Rice (CDB Goldair)
- Vaughan Rowsell (Vend)
- Warren Stephens (Lifetime Group)
- Grant Straker (Straker Translations)
- Mike Taylor (Pie Funds)
- Patrick Teo (BCS Group)
- Michael Whitehead (WhereScape Software)
The 16 finalists will appear before a judging panel on 19 August when each will compete for the top slot in one of five categories: products, services, technology and emerging industries, young and master.
The five category winners will be named on 22 August. They will face the judges once again on 15 October when an overall winner will be chosen.
New Zealand’s EY Entrepreneur Of The Year will be announced at an awards dinner in Auckland on 16 October. He or she will represent New Zealand at EY’s World Entrepreneur Of The Year™ event in Monaco next June when the EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year will be chosen.
