19 April 2011
Auckland - Diane Foreman, winner of the 2009 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year© has been appointed to the judging panel of the prestigious World Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards program.
“This is a first for Australia and New Zealand,” said Jon Hooper. “It is the fourth time a New Zealander has been appointed to the judging panel but the first time a woman has been appointed.”
The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year (EOY) Award program originated in the US in 1986. Since then the program has expanded and now runs in 140 cities in 50 countries worldwide. Each year, overall country winners are inducted into the World Entrepreneur Of The Year Academy and the world judging panel selects one person as the best in the world. Tim Alpe, CEO of JUCY Group Ltd and NZ’s 2010 Entrepreneur of the Year will compete for the world title in Monte Carlo in June.
Diane Foreman’s World EOY judging appointment follows her noteworthy career as an entrepreneur and founder of the Emerald Group - home of New Zealand Natural icecream.
“We are extraordinarily pleased that Diane Foreman, a New Zealander and an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year alumni has been appointed as a judge to the world judging panel,” said Ernst & Young New Zealand’s program Director Jon Hooper. “Throughout her career, Diane has demonstrated the exceptional ingenuity, determination and intelligence needed to develop a leading global business. Her achievements inspire others to succeed not only in New Zealand but also on the world stage.”
Foreman has been recognized with numerous additional awards for her business leadership, including the winning of New Zealand’s best Export Company (under $50m) and Winner of New Zealand’s Franchise Awards 2010/2011
“Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur Of The Year program showcases the best in business,” said Foreman. “I have been immensely impressed by the innovative and visionary leaders I meet throughout the world through this prestigious program and I am honoured to serve on the judging panel.”
