Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Finalists Announced
Eighteen entrepreneurs representing seventeen New Zealand businesses have been named as finalists in one of New Zealand’s leading business awards. The finalists in the 2008 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards are spread throughout New Zealand and represent a wide range of industries, including a wind turbine manufacturer, retirement village developer, jeweller, children’s performing arts teacher, and a video games developer.

Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of the Year Awards Director Jon Hooper said this year's finalists represent a cross section of New Zealand business and people who have achieved success in their chosen fields.
“To become a finalist in these Awards, each entrepreneur must display qualities of leadership, creativity, business acumen, perseverance, and an unflinching determination to succeed.
“The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards enables us to celebrate our entrepreneurs’ achievements and share with New Zealanders the contribution these unique individuals make to our society and our economy.
“All of the finalists are passionate and committed to growing sustainable businesses. They have done this by taking ideas and developing products and services that resonate with both New Zealand and chosen overseas markets,” he said
“We wish each of the finalists all the best in the coming weeks as category winners and an overall winner are selected by judges.”
Category winners will be announced on Friday 12 September, and New Zealand’s 2008 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year will be announced at an award banquet on Thursday 23 October, 2008. The overall winner will represent New Zealand at the Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards in Monte Carlo in May 2009.
