Better Government Programme

The mission of the Programme is to initiate and support activities leading to the improvement of the functioning of public institutions in Poland.

Through the Better Government Programme, Ernst & Young is participating in the public debate on public sector reform in Poland. The Programme aims to stimulate discussion on the quality of public institutions and to facilitate development of new solutions to improve their performance.

On the 20 October 2009 Dr Darek Klonowski will present the results of his research into the innovativenes of the Polish SME sector. His analysis centres on the possibility of government support mechanisms filling the liquidity gap on the market.

3 June 2009. During a public debate Janusz Paczocha and dr Wojciech Rogowski presented their report on the cost of compliance in the Polish banking sector.

The latest "Legislation barometer" report by Dr Radosław Zubek, Dr Marcin Matczak, Dr Agnieszka Cieleń and Dr Tomasz Zalasiński, in which the authors analyse the implementation of the Polish government’s legislative programme for the first half of 2009. 

25 June 2009 The final stage of the selection process under the Ernst & Young Better Government Programme Grants Competition took place. After the interviews with candidates the Selection Committee has chosen the winners.

9 June 2009 - Ernst & Young Better Government Programme and Rzeczpospolita daily organised a debate with the participation of the Minister for Sport and Tourism Mirosław Drzewiecki, former Minister for Sport Elżbieta Jakubiak, Wrocław Mayor Rafał Dutkiewicz, President of the PL.2012 Marcin Herra, and Ernst & Young experts, prof. Krzysztof Rybiński and Jarosław Błaszczak, and Aleksander Zioło,"Pilnujemy Euro 2012” leader. 

3 March 2009. Radosław Zubek, Klaus H. Goetz and Christian Stecker presented their report on the influence of an efficiently organised parlaiment on legislative predictability. The presentation took place in the Kolumnowa hall of the Polish Parliament.

The Ernst & Young Better Government programme has sponsored a three-year research project on the quality of economic lawmaking in four Central European countries – the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia.
